Hand Soap Recalled Over Possible Life Threatening Bacterial Contamination

Usually when you think of using hand soap it's to get rid of bacteria. However, this recall is because of bacteria.

Hand soap products from DermaRite Industries have been recalled because of a dangerous bacterial contamination that could lead to life-threatening sepsis. As of posting, the company said there have been no reports of infections or illness connected to this recall but still urged customers and distributors to "immediately examine available inventory and destroy all affected products in accordance with each facility's process."

The RECALLED items include:

  • DermaKleen
  • DermaSarra
  • KleenFoam
  • PeriGiene

These over-the-counter products were sold across the U.S. and Puerto. See the full list with Lot Numbers HERE.

DermaRite said in a news release, “In healthy individuals with minor skin lesions the use of the product will more likely result in local infections, whereas in immunocompromised individuals the infection is more likely to spread into blood stream leading to life-threatening sepsis."

Consumers with questions regarding this recall can call Mary Goldberg at 973-569-9000 x104 Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm EST or email voluntary.action@dermarite.com.
