Black & Boujee: Celebrating Black History Month the LGBTQIA Way

Mark your calendar for the biggest and best celebration in NYC nightlife! Black & Boujee: A Variety Show of POC Talent happens at HUSH in Hell's Kitchen on Sunday, February 27th at 7pm!

Presented by ImpulseNYC and drag artists Robyn Banks and Lola Michele-Kiki, the 18-person variety show features performances from Drag Queens & Kings, singers, burlesque performers, poets, dancers and more.

The event appropriately coincides with the culmination of Black History Month, celebrated annually during the month of February. Featuring an exclusive cast of performers of color and providing inclusivity for trans and non-binary artists was a main priority for organizer and Harlem-based drag performer Robyn Banks.

"I have always been very vocal about getting more people of color into different bars and lounges. I am the kind of person that likes to do more action than complaining. I believe the change has to start somewhere."

An original contestant in Z100's 10K Cash Cam in October of 2021 and a regular guest at our official Pride celebrations, Robyn is also the Director of Events for ImpulseNYC, a group that encourages informed personal lifestyle choices by engaging the LGBTQIA+ community through educational events and campaigns. The group also serves as a support system for the Black and Brown community in NYC, providing resources that are otherwise unavailable.

Earlier this year the group hosted the Glam Awards featuring performances from The Dragon Sisters and Tina Burner. Impulse also introduced two new awards, The Marsha P. Johnson Award handed to drag performer Brita and Advocacy Event of the Year awarded to Bob The Drag Queen and Peppermint.

This year's event at Hush is meant to celebrate Black History Month by centering and uplifting performers of color and introducing them to new audiences.
